  • Dr. Sherry Steeley  attended through the virtual option of this conference, conducting a research-based presentation entitled ”The Impact of Video Modeling on Student Teaching Outcomes in an International Online TEFL Program.”

Conference on Language, Learning, and Culture - Virginia International University, Fairfax, Virginia

  • Dr. Sherry Steeley will be presenting mixed methods research on"Motivation and Course Factors in Shaping Student Teaching Outcomes."

TESOL 2016 International Convention & English Language Expo – Baltimore, MD

  • Christa Hansen, Dr. Suzanne Matula, and Dr. Sherry Steeley  plan to attend the conference, including numerous sessions on international education, TESOL/TEFL practices and standards, and evolving technologies in the profession.

2015

TESOL 2015 International Convention & English Language Expo – Toronto, Canada

  • In conjunction with colleagues from Florida International University and University of Arizona, Dr. Sherry Steeley presented the results of survey results in “An Overview of U.S. University-Based TEFL Certificate Programs,” aligned with then-forthcoming TESOL Standards for Short Term TESL/TEFL Certificate Programs.
  • Christa Hansen and Dr. Suzanne Matula also attended the conference.

2014

TESOL 2014 International Convention & English Language Expo - Portland, OR

  • Dr. Sherry Steeley presented "Key Factors in Successful Student Teaching: Motivation, Communication, Experience, and Planning" and was part of a panel discussion on "University-Based TEFL Certificate Programs: Critical Analysis and Best Practices."
  • Christa Hansen and Dr. Suzanne Matula were also in attendance at the conference.

The International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language - Harrogate, United Kingdom

  • At the IATEFL conference, Dr. Sherry Steeley gave a presentation on "Measuring Online Teacher Learning through Performance Assessment: Theory and Practice."

The Second International Symposium on Languages for Specific Purposes - Boulder, CO

  • Dr. Suzanne Matula made two presentations while at the conference, "Pros and Cons of an End-Loaded Online Advanced EOP Writing Course" and "Critical Thinking in an English for (Very) Specific Purposes Program."

NAFSA: Association of International Educators, Annual Conference - San Diego, CA

  • Christa Hansen attended the NAFSA Annual Conference, which is run by NAFSA: Association of International Educators. The conference provides a forum to discuss the strategies and ways to achieve comprehensive internationalization, student success, outcome assessment, and programs and services that positively impact global skills and knowledge. The 2014 theme was "Pathways to Global Competence."

Language, Learning, and Culture Conference -Virginia International University (VIU), Fairfax, VA

  • The 2014 theme was "Innovations at the Intersection of Language, Learning, and Culture."
  • Dr. Suzanne Matula presented "Classroom outcomes and teacher change: A case study in teacher professional development in a former Soviet Republic."
